Our Objectives.

The Organization’s focus

  • Assisting with the social needs of children under 12 years.Too many children are hurt and too many dreams are damaged at this stage.

  • Improvement of Breakfast Program for Children
  • Improvement of pedagogical tools and skill set of teachers.

State of Early Childhood in Jamaica For children 3 months to 6 years it is delivered through basic schools, government infant, primary and all-age schools. There are also privately owned Nurseries and Kindergarten institutions but the establishments funded by community with government subvention are the ones of concern. With ECC working hard to raise the standards there are still institutions strapped for resources, underfunded and under pressure to deliver quality education to children.

Data from the 2011 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) reveal that 11 per cent of Jamaican three-year-olds are not adequately developed and there is inequity and 21 per cent from the poorest households are at increased risk of experiencing developmental delay against only three per cent from wealthiest families. Also, according to the 2015 JSRA report of the phase 1 pilot in Westmoreland, 43 per cent of four-year-olds show “a developmental, behavioural, or academic challenge that impacts school readiness”. The Jennifer Jenny Jenny Small Foundation will be assisting needy Early Childhood institutions.
